Customer Success (Client Services): We are seeking talented, multi-faceted individuals whose passion is to provide an insanely great customer experience. These individuals have customer relationship management skills with a strong client service background, preferably with some management consulting experience. These individuals will provide a high-tech, high-touch experience for InVitae’s clients that is unrivalled in the industry. They will develop and build InVitae’s client support infrastructure and processes, really understanding the client’s needs and demonstrating the value of our products and manage account relationships to build loyalty and drive customer satisfaction. Bachelor degree in Life Sciences, Business, Marketing, Communications or equivalent work experience; MBA or other graduate degree is a plus.
Laboratory Genetic Counselor (Client Services): We are seeing a genetic counselor to join our customer success team. We are looking for an individual with customer relationship management skills with a strong client service background and an understanding of the genetic testing process. Prior work in a genetic testing laboratory is a plus. This individual will provide a high-tech, high-touch experience for InVitae’s clients that is unrivalled in the industry. S/he will develop and build InVitae’s client support infrastructure and processes, really understanding the client’s needs and demonstrating the value of our products and manage account relationships to build loyalty and drive customer satisfaction. There are opportunities to be involved with other projects. Education: MS in genetic counseling. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Bioinformatics Software Engineers: We have openings for skilled, experienced and self-motivated developers who have a demonstrated knowledge and interest in genetics and bioinformatics. These individuals will design and implement data analysis pipelines, databases, analysis tools, and web user interfaces for large-scale genetic data sets. We use agile design and implementation practices coupled with the careful validation and documentation required in a clinical environment. We aim to use the right tool for any job: Linux servers with Python and Scala, SQL databases, NoSQL databases (MongoDB), and semantic web technologies; front-ends leverage AJAX on Apache with Django and jQuery. Bioinformatics tools used include bwa, Picard, and GATK, among many others. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with a number of these technologies and a voracious appetite to learn new ones as needed.
Senior Scientists. Our team of scientists plays a critical role in the development and delivery of new diagnostics. They assess the literature for proven risk factors, collaborate with the lab to develop assays, determine the appropriate models to interpret assay results, and develop reports to communicate these results to clinicians. Our scientists also have additional diverse responsibilities:
- Develop new products that address unmet clinical needs
- Serve as project leads and senior team members when developing new genetic testing services
- Generate technical requirements for new tools and workflows
- Evaluate and test of software and algorithms used in generating results
- Play a senior advisory role to clinical personnel
- Assist in commercial activities such as marketing, sales, and client management
Ideal candidates will have a deep knowledge and passion for human medical genetics and will have familiarity with bioinformatics methods and databases. Although this position does not involve laboratory work, experience with genotyping, sequencing, and molecular genetics is desired. A PhD or equivalent experience in clinical genetics, human genetics, epidemiology, and/or population genetics is required. We are specifically interested in candidates with a background in immunogenetics, mitochondrial genetics, and pharmacogenomics.
Senior Data Analyst/Statistician. We seek a senior-level scientist with an extensive background in both bioinformatics algorithms and rigorous statistical methods. This individual will be responsible for ensuing aspects of InVitae’s data quality and completeness and will help drive our use of leading calling, QC and interpretation methods (in general, methods carefully adapted from the literature). A Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics or Statistical Genetics is required with 10+ years of hands-on success in genetic and genomic data analysis projects. Fluency with Linux and various scripting/programming languages is required.
Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer. This individual will help architect and implement QC and QA practices for our software releases, including data analysis pipelines, internal tools, and customer-facing applications. They will work with developers and other stakeholders on defining specifications, manage issue tracking and technical documentation, and help implement test automation. Excellent analytical and communication skills are required. Experience in an agile clinical environment desired.
Web Developers. We’re looking for strong web developers who will help us create a state of the art web presence and to build elegant and powerful visualizations of highly complex genetic data. Candidates should be well-rounded in current-generation front-end technologies and comfortable working in an agile environment. Experience developing with Python and Django is a plus, as is experience with medical applications, biotechnology, or related fields. Some UI/UX design experience is desired, but not required.
